Tata Motors has officially launched the facelifted Tata Punch in India, with prices starting at ₹5.59 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated version of Tata’s popular micro-SUV receives noticeable upgrades across design, features, powertrain options and safety, making it more competitive in the fast-growing compact SUV segment.
The facelift introduces a more modern exterior, a significantly upgraded interior with new technology, and the addition of a turbo-petrol engine for customers looking for improved performance. The new Punch continues to be positioned as a practical, urban-friendly SUV with strong safety credentials and value-oriented pricing.

Design: Sharper Styling with Subtle Yet Effective Updates
The overall boxy silhouette and SUV-like stance of the Tata Punch have been retained. However, the facelift brings several cosmetic refinements that give the vehicle a fresher and more premium appearance.
At the front, the Punch now features redesigned LED daytime running lamps (DRLs), updated headlamp clusters and a new front bumper with an integrated faux skid plate and LED fog lamps. The grille section has also been reworked with a gloss black finish, adding to the visual appeal.
From the side, the changes are minimal. The SUV now gets newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels, while the rugged black cladding, roof rails and shark fin antenna continue to be offered. At the rear, the most noticeable update is the addition of connected LED tail lamps, along with a redesigned tailgate and rear bumper with an integrated skid plate. These changes align the Punch’s design more closely with Tata’s newer models, including its electric counterpart.
Interior: More Premium, More Technology-Focused
Inside, the facelifted Punch offers a more tech-rich and refined cabin compared to the outgoing model. While the dashboard layout remains familiar, several elements have been redesigned for a more modern look and improved usability.
The centrepiece of the interior is a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering wheel is now a two-spoke, flat-bottom unit with an illuminated Tata logo, along with integrated controls for audio and vehicle functions.
Other interior highlights include a 7-inch digital instrument cluster with updated graphics, a touch-based HVAC control panel, a wireless phone charger, a front armrest, ambient lighting, rear AC vents, type-C fast charging ports and push-button start. The facelift also introduces comfort and convenience features such as a voice-assisted single-pane sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, cruise control, a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitoring and connected car technology.
Powertrain and Performance: New Turbo Engine Joins the Line-Up
A major mechanical update on the facelift is the introduction of a new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This engine produces 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque and is paired exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. According to Tata Motors, peak torque is available between 1,750 and 4,000 rpm, offering improved drivability and stronger mid-range performance.
The existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine continues to be offered, producing around 88 bhp and 115 Nm of torque, while the CNG version delivers approximately 73.5 bhp and 103 Nm. Both these engines are available with a five-speed manual transmission, and for the first time, Tata is also offering the CNG variant with an AMT automatic gearbox. Automatic variants additionally get paddle shifters, enhancing driving convenience.
Safety: Strong Focus on Occupant Protection
Safety remains a key highlight of the Tata Punch facelift. The vehicle is built on Tata’s ALFA architecture and comes with a robust safety package.
Six airbags are now standard across all variants, along with electronic stability control, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and rear parking sensors. The facelifted Punch has also secured a five-star rating in the Bharat NCAP crash test, reinforcing Tata Motors’ focus on structural integrity and occupant protection in mass-market vehicles.
Variants and Pricing
The Tata Punch facelift is available in multiple trims across petrol, turbo-petrol and CNG powertrains. Prices start at ₹5.59 lakh for the base petrol variant and go up to ₹9.29 lakh for the top-end CNG version (all prices ex-showroom).
The new turbo-petrol engine is offered on select higher variants, including the Adventure and Accomplished trims, aimed at customers looking for better performance without stepping into a larger SUV segment.
Conclusion: A Stronger and More Complete Package
With its refreshed design, feature-rich interior, the addition of a turbo-petrol engine and class-leading safety, the Tata Punch facelift represents a significant step forward over the outgoing model. It continues to appeal to urban buyers who want the practicality of a compact car, the stance of an SUV and the reassurance of high safety standards.
The updated Punch strengthens Tata Motors’ presence in the micro-SUV segment and is expected to attract both existing customers looking to upgrade and new buyers seeking a stylish, safe and affordable SUV for city and highway use.
